In my work, The Leader and the Led (A Testament of Moses), I examine the ongoing complexities of guidance, authority, and collective progress in a contemporary context. Inspired by the biblical narrative of Moses and the Exodus, the piece presents two figures: one in a striped Agbada symbolizing traditional authority and inherited vision, and the other in casual attire representing active, modern engagement. Their contrast, set against a stark institutional wall, highlights the tension between ancestral leadership and the urgent, practical demands of those who follow. The staff between them serves as a shared symbol of direction, trust, and the fragile covenant needed to overcome obstacles.

More than a historical reference, the work invites viewers to question power dynamics and the mutual reliance required on any journey toward a “promised land,” whether political, social, or personal. Leadership offers vision, but progress ultimately depends on the will and focus of those who walk the path.
